Global Warming

Written by Jay Dunn. Posted in Politics

(This is an old post from another site I maintained. It is meant to be generic. I'm not going to get into specifics such as Cap and Trade. Thats a whole subject of its own)

Obviously, the idea of Global Warming is scary. But not nearly as scary as what man will try and do to stop it.

We know that the Earth has gone through several stages of global cooling and warming over the ages. It's a natural process and the Earth seems to have handled it just fine. But now comes the first signs of it happening during a technologically advanced stage of human evolution and I'm thinking we may not handle it well at all.

What if global warming were occurring and we absolutely knew man's activities were not responsible. Do you think we would just sit idly by and watch it happen? NOT!

Whether man is responsible for global warming or not, we're going to try and do something about it. And based on our history, this is what we should be worried about. According to some, if we don't do something now, coastal communities like Miami Beach will be gone in a hundred years. I'm worried that if we overreact, the things we do to save Miami will end up being a disaster for Denver.

I'm not suggesting we ignore it. The Earth is adjusting to us. Obviously, we need to monitor and adjust to the Earth. Kind of a compromise. What we don't need however, is to follow the knee jerk reaction of the know it alls that want to take radical steps to fix the problem right this second. They don't know crap and they certainly don't have all the answers.

Over the eons Earth is bound to go through changes and some of it won't be good for man. Regardless of the cause, we are going to have to deal with it in a way that allows the Earth to handle it on its own while allowing us to maintain our progress.
