Penner-Ash

Posted in Pinot Noir/Burgundy

Most good Pinot Noirs tend to be a bit pricy, so I don't tend to experiment much. Every now and then though, I get a wild hair and shell out $55 and up to try something that looks promising. This is how I discovered Penner-Ash. Purchasing any wine on looks and description is risky business, but this time luck was with me. I knew from the very first sip that I was drinking something that came very close to defining what a Pinot Noir should be. Since that night, any time I have the urge to splurge, I have chosen Penner-Ash. Like most wineries, I'm aware Penner-Ash has several different Pinot Noir varieties that they bottle. But, down here the only thing I can ever find is the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. So, the next time you feel like splurging and see this bottle, do not hesitate. You will not be disappointed.
